I Fell Off the Couch & Other Awesome Things...

So. I fell of the couch.
{I'll go ahead and give you a minute or two to stop laughing.}
...
Tuesday last.
Standing on couch {making a little more sense now?}.
Removing Christmas decorations hung high on wall.
Lean over to place wonderful decor on tub on coffee hot chocolate table.
{You see where this is going huh?}
Yeah, well insert giant metal ladder on floor between couch and table.
I landed on it.
{Not so funny anymore is it?}
 {Unless you're really mean.}

Cut to last night.
Totally feeling better.
Baby crying back in bedroom.
Head down hallway without turning lights on because...
I know the way.
Pitch black and I run into something.
{Are you laughing?}
Split-second thinking: is it the stupid dog?
Too big for dog!
Falling over too big for dog thing in middle of pitch-black hallway.
Falling into Tay's room.
Try and stop myself with my hands and knees.
Too big to be falling. I fall hard.
I hear...
"I thought you saw me!"
Seriously?
No.
Seriously?!?
WTH
Who lays down in a pitch-black hallway?
My freaking awesome husband of course.
Who else?
{Go ahead and laugh, I won't hold it against you.}
But I'll hold off for a day or two
until the awful head-to-I'm too big to be falling like this-toe pain subsides.

Tay: Stay in your room and just GO TO SLEEP!!
Rob: Don't guard Tay's door...
and fall asleep...
in the pitch-black hallway.

Yeah. Thanks.

{And for the record: No. I really didn't see him.}
{It was pitch-black.}
{Just in case you missed that part.}

Delayed Nesting Post

Finally made some new pillows!
{back in October before baby A arrived}
I used only 2 new pillow forms and the rest I just recovered.
Love this flower, which I learned how to do here.
So easy and fun to change things up!
Updated my curtains. I love them. I had been annoyed with my all red curtains ever since I washed them and they shrank! So not cute. For months. And months.
I went to craft night at a friends house {who has a private blog or I'd link you there} and fell in love with the idea and shamelessly copied her. Thanks Betsy!
I got a giant pillow form for my birthday {is that weird?}
and was very excited when the fabric I really loved that I was told had been cancelled showed up at my door. So at least one more pillow to come...the list is never ending.

Craft Night + Nesting + 2 Girls = Matching Time!

 A little diaper/wipe holder I saw somewhere...sorry, don't remember where.

 Fun matching initial t's for the girls.
 Fun, fun results of one of the girl's craft night's a few friends & I have been doing!
Closer detail of ice cream cone. Wish I could have gotten a better shot of cone.
Found really cute textured felt at Joann's, so fun for the cone!
Ruffles done in jersey cotton (thanks Julie!!)

A little more crochet.

A few more things. I have a tiny little purple pair of shoes, but forgot to get a picture and actually tried them on Ave day one and they were too small! :)

A little crochet action.

Pumpkin hat requested by a friend for her daughter's halloween costume.
Had to make use of all that extra yarn for my lil' pumpkins!
A few of the hats made while watching TV during "nesting" time.
They don't look very exciting, but they're cute on. Added ribbon to purple one on the left.
Fuzzy chick hat in action.
The cocoon.
Keeping this winter cutie snug as a bug...
in a cocoon.
Had to make a hat for my #1 princess Tay!
Love the "ruffles" if I don't say so myself. ;)

Pantry Organized.

Ok, so not my dream pantry. That would include cool wall treatment and coordinating wood shelves, much more fancy and matching containers...you get the idea. And WHY didn't I take a before picture?!? But trust me when I say it is 100x better and more organized. Most importantly it makes me happy.
I really want to get organized this year!
My house has been driving me crazy, but I started to do something about it a few months back thanks to that wonderful thing called "nesting!"
{And an awesome mom and husband willing to help! Thank you!!}

Scattered.

Wanna know how I noticed?
Apparently we are in D.I.R.E. need of brown sugar.
Yeah. That's right. I was going to write it again!!

My brain is scattered in a serious way the past couple of days.
It's time to get organized over here,
I've actually done a few things already,
and hope to document them {small though they be} soon!

Phew!

I really didn't expect to evolve easily with no hard work involved, but jeesh. I feel exhausted body, mind & spirit after this first week of 2011! I know that we tend to be tested when we are trying to grow and progress, especially if it might bring us closer to out true selves, to our families, to our Heavenly Father.

Thankfully, I think I passed. I definitely really screwed some small moments up BIG time, but that's ok. I apologized, tried to fix what I could and moved on. Yay me! It feels good to not beat myself up so much. Now to just keep that up!

I hope you all had a great week, if not I hope you passed your tests! ;) Here's to week 2!

2011: Evolve!

Happy New Year!
I have actually been thinking a lot since my birthday back in November about this new year and what I'd like to accomplish in it. I turned 35 and I feel older. Not so much in a bad way. Kind of in a great way actually. I won't lie, I do feel older in a kind of "I'm really out of shape and my knees hurt and I'm tired" way. That I hope to get my head around dealing with. It really can't be my main focus right now though, my minds just not there yet. I am hoping that it {it being a bit more healthy physically} will at least be a happy consequence of where my mind IS. So where is my mind? So glad you asked!

35. 35 is a nice round, solid number to me. For some reason, this year turning 35 felt like getting a brand new shirt. It feels like that shirt you've been waiting for, where you slide it on and you can tell before it settles onto your body that it is so perfectly soft and cozy comfy. You know the one? I feel like standing up a bit taller. I feel like...dare I say it? An adult. A real-life bona fide grown-up! Yikes!! I know. ;) I really do feel like a kid most of the time. I experience those weird moments in the midst of a family activity or vacation of "whoa, I'm the PARENT, and we are so in the middle of creating our kids childhood memories here." Is that strange? Only now with 35 settling so comfy around me, I feel less like a kid and more like a grown-up in a really great way. It's more a sense of being in charge, accountable, responsible. I so love that I'm embracing these words that made me run for my "cave" in the past.

It's TIME.

I don't expect to become perfect this year, or ever really. But I expect to change, progress, and grow. I really expect to become more ME. I am totally fine with overshooting my mark here and there and messing up. BUT it will be different this year, because I'm not going to beat myself up about it.

This is the year I will learn to love myself.
I have really treated myself poorly up til now. I am constantly being a serious mean girl in my head and it's time for that mean girl to kick rocks! From now on...that's just NOT how I roll. This change may not be visible on the outside come next year although it'd be real nice if it was. I really hope that others can feel the change even if they can't pinpoint it. Especially those closest to me as they used to get the brunt of the mean girl runoff. I hope that in learning to really love myself, to see myself more as my Heavenly Father sees me I'll be more chill, loving, kind, open. I've been circling in this vicious cycle and I see now how everything is part of it...my relationships, my weight, my sleep habits, etc. All whirling around in there, constant motion in a way too sedentary life. But {here's the change in action people!!}I'm not going to get overwhelmed at this point and shoot myself down by realizing that those are a lot of things and a lot of change and a lot of work. Because I'm not lying to myself anymore and I'm NOT listening to Satan either! {see me stick out tongue} I don't have to be perfect. Ha! Check me out. I don't have to change it all. I don't have to do anything actually. But I am going to CHOOSE to do a bit better than I have in the past. That's it. Just a bit. And if I do more than a bit, well GO ME. Some days I'm going to just suck it all up...like screw it up. And I'll give myself a hug, apologize if need be and MOVE ON. Yes!

So there you have it. The plan? The movement! I'm so looking forward to an amazing year and to a even more amazing me!

P.S.
I will also be conquering the world of digital scrapbooking.
Getting my house organized.
And lots of other good stuff. ;)
