We did it! We arrived in Stehekin.
I was pretty excited as I'd only heard there was something at the end of the lake, but never knew what exactly.
Well, what is: Stehekin, a small unincorporated community in Chelan County, Washington.
I believe the population is just under a hundred people. You can only get there by boat or plane. And near here is the Northwest's deepest gorge. Cool huh? It's in the lake and therefore partially covered in water, but a claim to fame is a claim to fame! ;)
We got on this cute red bus and took a whirlwind look around. Seriously, saw Stehekin in under an hour. Would really like to go back...maybe for our anniversiary one year?
Could have stayed a few more hours but wasn't feeling up to taking the "slow boat" back with the kids.
HOT 'n tired.
The school house!
One teacher and all students K-8.
After that they go live with family/friends in town...ie, no high school here.
The community center.
Where's Waldo?
Who's Waldo? Baaaaaaah.
Got back to the condo, mom/dad/Alex headed back to the Tri-Cities, the kids and I stayed one more night.
We went swimming and hung out and enjoyed a fire in the fireplace while the best lightening show I've seen in years occured outside our window. Cool!
....while I was packing.
...while I was driving home.
ok, i follow a lot of friends posts and i don't think any child makes more "faces" than Tayvin!! I hope she doesn't have "moods" to go with all those faces...lol God bless if the next one is this way too...LOL
