Happy Halloween! (oct)

This year we did things a bit differently. Mekhi had asked Robert what he did for Halloween when he was younger. Since he grew up in NYC, he told Mekhi that he didn't go door to door because it wasn't safe. Instaead his mom would let them get a small toy, she'd have a cake and some candies and they'd stay home and watch a movie and hang out. Mekhi actually said that he wanted to do that this year, so we did! It worked well since he got some candy at the church trunk-or-treat and then got to pick out his new lego kit a few days later for our Halloween in. He faltered for a minute on Halloween day before I got things set up, then once I broke out the candy bowl and old school "scary" movies from the library (think 70's Disney) as well as his toy he was all set to celebrate. I ended up getting a bit out of control like usual and if we go this route next year hopefully will arrange ahead of time to have some family or friends join us. Or I need to not make so much food! Thankfully my mom and friends Yumiko and Sam did come by to help eat a bit.
Can't keep these women from helping, my bedragled sweaty look probably didn't help.
I made red velvet cupcakes for the first time and mom is hooking up the frosting.
This is shepard's pie with mashed potato ghosts.
Tu-tu girl had to have an outfit change!
Happy Halloween!
